Session I - June 15-19 | Session II - June 22-26 | Session III - July 6-10

Philosophy
The VES Sports Camp provides basic instruction, supervised recreation, and fellowship in sports and games for boys and girls ages 7-13. In all that is done, the emphasis is always on the development of positive, healthy sportsmanship and competitiveness in a fun and spirited fashion.

Staff
The Camp Directors are Bob Leake and Jocelyne Frazier. The rest of the staff is composed of adults familiar with working with young people and counselors who are of high school and college age. The ratio of camper to counselor is 8:1. Most of the staff is experienced with Sports Camp. All have a real desire to make the experience for each camper fun and rewarding.

Sports & Activities
Campers are divided according to age groups (7-8, 9-10, 11-13) with regard to participation and learning. Campers receive daily instruction in the fundamentals of basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and track. In addition, there is time each day for instruction in tennis for interested campers. Intra-camp competition within these sports, as well as various contests and sports related games, are part of each week’s activities. Camp begins each morning at 9:00 and concludes at 3:00. The campers should arrive between 8:45 and 9:00. They are to be picked up promptly at 3:00. Counselors will be in the parking lot to assist with both drop off and pick up.

Facilities
Sports Camp is held entirely on the VES Campus. Campers have full access to all athletic facilities, including soccer and lacrosse fields, eight tennis courts, King Field House, swimming pool, and Van Every Gym. Lunch is held in Harrison Dining Room.

Lunch
Each camper is required to bring his/her own lunch, which will be refrigerated in the dining hall throughout the morning. Sports Camp will not provide any food for campers. Water and lemonade will be available at all breaks.

Clothing & Equipment
Campers should arrived dressed in play clothes and athletic shoes. All items need to be labeled with the child’s name to avoid being misplaced. Each camper will receive a Sports Camp t-shirt on the first day of the week.

Fellowship & Team Spirit
A positive environment conducive to each person’s general well being is a priority at Sports Camp. Respect and appreciation for one another will be a daily emphasis. Bob Leake and Jocelyne Frazier reserve the right to ask any camper whose conduct becomes a problem for other campers or counselors be withdrawn from camp. Whenever possible, communication with parents by Bob Leake to avoid such extreme measures will occur.

Swimming Pool
The VES swimming pool will be available for camp use. Each age group will be able to use the pool in the afternoon during sports camp. The schedule for each group will be given to campers at the start of each session. There will be certified lifeguards on duty during that time. Alternate activities will be available to those who do not wish to swim.

Cost
Cost for a week of camp is $150. Receipt of registration with payment by May 30, 2014 will guarantee enrollment. After this date space is available on a first-received basis. Participants are welcome to register for all three weeks. Refunds for cancellations will only be made under special circumstances defined by the Sports Camp directors. In these cases the Sports Camp will keep a $50 administration fee.
