Dear Faithful Bishops,

It is with deep disappointment that we have concluded we must postpone the Centennial Celebration events planned for this weekend. At this time,
we are cancelling all Centennial weekend events.

We are facing into a threat of two major weather systems converging in the region, and the Governor of Virginia has declared a state of emergency.
State officials in both North Carolina and Virginia have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel through Saturday.

Our focus has turned to the safety and security of our VES community—our students, faculty, campus and our guests traveling to our weekend-long Centennial Celebration. To that end, our VES vs. Atlantic Shores football game, originally scheduled for Saturday, will be played today at 3 p.m.

We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of enthusiasm and support for VES at this moment in our history. Nearly 600 guests were planning to travel from 20 states and England. As you can imagine, we regret that the celebratory events cannot proceed as planned.

Our teams have already begun discussing the best dates to reschedule this exciting event and hope that you will be inspired to join us at VES when we announce our revised plans.

We are working quickly through many details. All registered attendees, please stay tuned for more information.

Thank you for your understanding.
